Natural deodorants for best summer health experience
2020-05-14

Phtalan, triclosan, parabens and other aggressive elements that compose most mass market antiperspirant
may cause serious damage on skin microflora and evoke irritation or allergies, especially in the heated season
when our temperature regulations is working in overdrive. These components affect endocrine profile, the
reproductive system and immune resistance. Surveys show, that abusing generic deodorants may lead to
serious health destruction, in certain cases even boosting breast cancer and Alzheimer disease.
Natural deodorants with their antibacterial and nurturing action would be a safer and equally effective
alternative. Fortunately, the market is regularly offering new brands and products of that kind.
Natural deodorants contain no harmful elements and are mostly made from botanicals extracts. Basic active
elements that work as natural sweat absorbents, are white alkali, green clay, active coal or diatomaceous
earth. Coconut and jojoba oil, shea butter or aloe provide the necessary skin nurturing, while Tea tree, eucalyptus
or sage oil assure antibacterial effect and add the delightful scent. So, the trick is simple – at every encounter
with a new antiperspirant, we cautious about the ingredients. Artificial preservatives, flavors and colorants
signalize, that the product is only “natural” in name.
Natural antiperspirants are easy for DIY and give a lot of freedom to try new combinations and fragrances while
seeking a perfect one for yourself. Here is one simple and proven recipe. Packaging can be found here nad here.
Ingredients:
How to make:
- 6 level scoops of white alkali
- 3 spoons of melted coconut oil,
- 1 spoon of peroxide of hydrogen,
- essential oil by preference (we use Tea tree oil) – a dozen of drops will be enough, excessive amount may cause skin irritation,
- a jar
- a stick for stirring and product application.
1. Skightly heat the coconut oil until smooth and fluid.
2. Add the peroxide, alkali and stir thoroughly. Then add the essential oil and stir again for a while.
3. Pour the formula into the jar and let chill.
The product is safe to store in the bathroom. Though coconut oil thickens, it quickly gains the necessary consistence
in contact with the body, so the antiperspirant is easy to apply and evenly gaum the armpit.
